There are 6 National Parks in Małopolska, and two of them are also listed as man and biosphere reserves.

Małopolska is a real reservoir of the treasures of nature in Poland - 67% of the Malopolska Voivodship is protected, which ranks this voivodship in the first place in Poland in this respect. Apart from the national parks, there are 11 areas of outstanding natural beauty, 10 protected landscape areas, 83 natural reserves and 1775 nature monuments. The first trials to protect the beauty of this mountaineous region were made at the beginning of the 20th century. Thanks to this actions we may today admire and relish the primeval beauty of this part of the Carpathian range.
